Our Story
Our Mission
Rahab’s Rope exists to empower women and children in the fight against human trafficking in South Asia.
Where It All Began
In 2004, Vicki Moore came across a report on the prevalence of human trafficking worldwide. With statistics reporting upwards of 40 million people in slavery, human trafficking is the fastest growing criminal activity in the world generating 150 billion dollars per year. Two-thirds of human trafficking is from commercial sexual exploitation and 80% is girls and women. South Asia trafficks more children than any part of the world. Having never heard of human trafficking and its prevalence, Vicki was shocked and felt compelled to learn more. She listened to an interview with a young woman who had been rescued from the industry. She was never allowed to go to school and could not read or write, leaving her unemployable and unequipped. She begged listeners to teach her a skill that would allow her to provide for herself, not a handout but the restoration of dignity through work and purpose that every human longs for.Vicki immediately realized she could teach this woman and others like her. With more atrocity continuing to be made known to her, Vicki asked God, “Why isn’t someone doing something about this?” to which He replied, “I would like for you to do something.”Following the Lord, Vicki was led to South Asia. By the years' end, Rahab’s Rope was introduced at our very first Christmas celebration to a group of women who had been used and abused for most of their lives and saw no sign of hope. With 100 women in attendance, what better event to introduce a sign of hope than in celebrating the birth of Him who provided rescue for all. This was the beginning of Rahab's Rope. With 20 years of ministry experience, we now work in 6 locations, run 11 programs, and continue reaching thousands of women. “Let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” 1 John 3:18
Rahab’s Rope – Love in Action
Understanding Our Name
In 2004, our founder, Vicki Moore, was studying for a bachelor’s degree in biblical studies. As she was studying the Old Testament in the book of Joshua and the story of Rahab, she came across a story on the internet about human trafficking. Worldwide human trafficking stats were given and the story of a young lady that had never been to school and couldn’t get a job and was asking for someone to teach her how to do something. The next day in class, Vicki’s professor was teaching the story of Rahab and said we all know Rahab hid the Israelite spies under flax plants and he asked why do you think Rahab had so much of this plant in her house and what is flax used for? Flax is used to make linen and rope. There is a rope in the story representing Rahab’s rescue both physically and spiritually. The professor said if Rahab had so much flax in her house do you think she made the rope in the story representing her rescue? In Vicki’s mind the thought of Rahab possibly making the rope that represented her rescue was in correlation with young women being rescued from trafficking and requesting to be taught a skill to support themselves representing their rescue. The rope or product represents safety, redemption and freedom. It is symbolic of both spiritual and physical freedom. From this knowledge a business plan was created to support women and children in the fight against human trafficking, providing education, vocational training and jobs. This is our beginning, Rahab’s Rope a place of love in action!

Statement of Belief
If you are curious as to why we do what we do, the answer is simple: Jesus.
In 2004, God began to weave Rahab’s Rope together, and it is our fervent desire and prayer that every step of the process, every success, and every life impacted reflects back to Him.We also believe that God loves you and wants you to personally know Him. If you are interested in knowing the eternal love of Christ – the following scripture passages outline the way:
“God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)
We believe that all scripture is “God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.” (2 Timothy 3:16)
We believe that Jesus Christ is “the way, the truth and the life.” (John 14:6)
We believe that “salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to man by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12)
We believe “if we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.” (1 John 1:8)
We believe “if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9)
We believe “that if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified and it is with your mouth you confess and are saved.” for “Everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Romans 10:9-10 & 13)
