We All Have a Story to Tell

We All Have a Story to Tell

"Everyone will share the story of your wonderful goodness,

they will sing with joy about your righteousness."

Psalm 145:7

I love to share stories of seeing God work in the lives of women and children we serve in India. I love to see the transformation that takes place when someone realizes there is a God that loves them, and their life was meant to be so much more. The ministry of Rahab’s Rope exists today because I heard a story. Stories are told for many reasons, they can inform us, make us laugh and make us cry. Some stories may include facts and figures. Numbers are important but it is more often the story behind the numbers that gets our attention. We remember how stories make us feel and those feelings often inspire us to action. Such was the case in my life. In January of 2004 I came across some numbers and facts about human trafficking, it was shocking! But then, there was the story, and twenty years later the story continues.

Today I will share the story of Nan. I can’t put into words how horrible her experience of being trafficked was or the horrible conditions she has had to live in. I can tell you through her words how her life has changed since coming to our outreach center in the middle of the red-light area.

Nan had been sold into the red-light area when she was very young. She is now in her twenties. Nan decided to share her story with a group of women that were coming to our center. Nan said, “In my life I only sat and did nothing except wait for customers all day. One day God brought the staff of Rahab’s Rope to visit me. They asked, “What do you want to do in your life? I told them I don’t want to do anything. I just want to die.” Both of Nan’s parents had passed away and someone took her and brought her to this place. Nan spoke to the other women with confidence, “I know I am here with you today because of Jesus and He has given me the strength to share my story. I am thankful to God for loving me and to the staff of Rahab’s Rope for believing in me. Because I have learned the skill to sew, I can now leave this place and get a job and have a good life. Thank you.”

Nan’s story is common. The girls in the red-light area see no hope in their lives and give up. Thanks to your support many are seeing Hope!

Last quarter 19 of these women became new believers in Christ.

Next month 10 women will graduate our sewing program and receive a new sewing machine as part of their graduation.

If you would like to donate a sewing machine to one of our women you can go to our Gift A Need tab on our website and donate a sewing machine or you can go to our donate page and give as you can toward a sewing machine, just note on the donate line your gift goes toward a sewing machine.! Thank you for all the ways you support the ministry of Rahab's Rope!
