Splendor!
When Rahab’s Rope first began in 2004 Isaiah 61:1-3 was our founding scripture. Most of the time when reading these verses, we focus on the beauty for ashes that God gives. God was asking me "Why do I give beauty for ashes"? The purpose was for the women and children we serve to be lifted up and become oaks of righteousness so that all will see the splendor of God. To see that God takes the broken that come to Him and transforms their lives.
Martha's Story
Martha was trafficked when she was a little girl and can't remember her age. She was rescued by the police when she was 15 years old and placed in an aftercare facility where we volunteer. Martha is now 23. No one was able to locate her family and she had no skills to live on her own. Martha began coming to every class we were offering; sewing, literacy, and Bible study. We began to see changes in Martha and she accepted Jesus into her life. We began praying specifically for Martha that her family would be found and they would accept her back. A few weeks later her grandmother was found. We thank God we were able to be a part of Martha's reunion with her grandmother. Martha entered the aftercare home alone, depressed, and no sign of hope. She left joyful, thankful and loving the Lord. She is equipped with vocational skills, a Bible and empowered with Jesus!
A true display of His Splendor!
