Light is Greater than Dark

Light is Greater than Dark

In John 8:12 Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.” Our staff in India walk in some very dark places. As they follow the will of the Father they have His light. I am so proud of them and all they do in the harshness of the day to day. In July, our staff in Mumbai carried His light into the darkness and some amazing things have happened and are continuing to happen.

Our most amazing happening is four women accepted Christ! Thank you, Jesus. We were able to get two women jobs and two other women identification cards. Can you imagine not having anything that shows you exist. You can’t get a job, a home, open a bank account and so on without identification. We also got two children birth certificates and enrolled four new children into school.

We have added to the ministry in Mumbai!

Earlier this year I was in Mumbai and talking with one of the young guys that we have been paying for him to go to school. He was getting ready to take his final exams for high school. He said, “You know my dad died two years ago and my mom is working very hard to support me and my sister by selling items at the train station.” He continued, “I need to get a job and help my mom and sister, but I can’t find anyone to hire me.” I told him we would pray and try to help him. The next day, one of our staff, Sam, said he needed to talk to me. We met and he said many of the boys we have been working with are beginning to finish school and have no options for jobs. He said he would like to go to school to teach hair cutting so he can train boys for this job. We have had a lot of success in training women for beauty salon work and getting them jobs. Sam said he didn’t see why we couldn’t do the same for boys. I agreed, especially since every time I have had my hair cut in India it has been by a male. Sam finished his training, and we just enrolled our first two boys into class. This is so exciting! Poverty fuels so much evil in our world. According to many resources poverty is one of the leading drivers of human trafficking for boys and girls. Due to the success, we have already had in the salon area we are now working on some long-range plans for a separate facility for beauty school training and employment. The hope is that this facility would also serve as a source to fund this part of the ministry.
