The Story of Rana
Rana is 16 and lives in one of the areas where we work. Her mother was trafficked by her father. Rana’s parents kept her in school, and she just completed 10th Standard, which is equivalent to our 12th grade. Rana has not been forced into the commercial sex work by her family even though her father is an agent for trafficking. Over the last couple of years we have been able to rescue 4 girls from under Rana’s father. So far, he is unaware of our involvement in any of the raids or rescues. Unfortunately, Rana was attacked and abused by a neighbour. Our staff heard about the situation and informed an investigative rescue agency. The agency went to the police and filed a report. The accused is now in prison serving a 14-year sentence. We are so thankful we were able to assist and be a catalyst in this person’s arrest. Rana was of course traumatized by the event, so our staff made daily visits to counsel her. We kept asking her father to let her come to our center so we could help her, but he refused. Finally, he decided to let her come. Rana has been coming for five months and is learning to sew and taking part in our beauty course. Please pray that Rana will come to know Jesus and be a light of change for her family and the community.
We are praising God for the boldness and courage of our staff and the many girls and women that have been rescued through their efforts. We praise God for our center where women feel free to come and be themselves without any fear or expectation. We ask you to pray that many come to know Christ through the ministry of Rahab's Rope and our center in this red-light area.
