The Story of Meri
Meri is the daughter of a woman who was forced into temple prostitution—a life in which women are dedicated to the gods and are not permitted to marry or leave once they are dedicated. Despite these circumstances, Meri’s mother kept her in school as long as she could, hoping to delay the day when Meri might be groomed to follow in her footsteps.
Our ministry partners with an organization that works specifically with women from this region to help them leave that lifestyle. Through counseling and support, our partners were able to convince Meri’s mother to allow her to leave and move into an aftercare home.
With their help, Meri was able to enroll back in school at the 10th-grade level. Over the following months, Meri heard the Gospel and accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior—the one true God.
Today, Meri desires to continue growing in her faith and plans to enroll in a discipleship training program to deepen her biblical studies. We are so proud of the progress she has made and the courage she has shown.
Please pray for Meri as she leaves the aftercare home to pursue this next step. Pray that she will trust the Lord in the plans He has for her life and that He will use her story to bring hope and truth to others.
