Prevention Center Update

Prevention Center Update

This week, we’re excited to share an update on our Prevention Center, where we continue to serve school-age children through tutoring, life skills classes, and a growing Sunday school and church service.

Located in one of the largest and poorest slum communities in the state, our center exists to bring hope and opportunity. Our tutoring program supports children of all ages who are attending school. In many slum communities, children become discouraged, and parents are often unable to help with schoolwork. This can lead to students dropping out. Our goal is to prevent that—and we are seeing it happen. Over the years, we’ve witnessed incredible transformation, with students completing their education and going on to secure good-paying jobs.

We also offer life skills classes for both teenage girls and boys. These classes focus on practical, everyday skills such as self-awareness, empathy, critical and creative thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving. Students also learn effective communication and how to cope with stress and emotions. All of this is taught through a foundation of Christian values.

These programs continue to grow, and we currently have 38 girls and 39 boys attending life skills classes. We truly believe that when the love of Christ is shared and embraced, real and lasting change takes place. Just last month, three young women who grew up in our programs were hired by a great company that recently opened in the area. This is incredibly exciting for us, as more students are becoming examples to others that change is possible.

As it says in Matthew 19:26, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” With Jesus, all things are possible!

To continue supporting this community, we are currently paying school fees for seven children and providing groceries each week for five families. Thank you for supporting the ministry of Rahab’s Rope through your prayers, your shopping, and your giving. You are truly our partners in this work.
