Making a Better World

Making a Better World

Stop & Shop - Often, we all stop by a store or mall just to shop. Here at Rahab’s Rope we frequently use the term “Shop to Stop” - meaning your shopping has purpose. You can shop to stop poverty or even human trafficking in someone’s life. By shopping with Rahab’s Rope, you can know that the product came directly from a woman that is being helped. It may mean that she is being rescued from human trafficking, she comes from a high-risk area and needs education and skills or living in poverty and through the work she is receiving by making this product she is able to help support her family. These circumstances are true whether it is product made directly in our centers or by a woman from one of our artisan partners. Here at Rahab’s Rope, we are very grateful for you and the women and children we serve are even more grateful. Today I would like to share a few comments from some of the girls that have come to our centers and a quote from a couple of our volunteers from here in the U.S.

One of the questions we asked was, “How has your life changed since working or learning with Rahab’s Rope?”

Sana, “Working for Rahab’s Rope has really helped me, my mom and my family. Often, my dad does not give anything to help our family and now I am able to give money to help run the house and support my family.”

Geeta, “Before coming here we worried a lot about money. My dad does not give any money to support the family because he buys alcohol with the money he makes. I came to work with Rahab’s Rope and now I can help my mom and family survive.”

Shela, “I had no friends and hated friendships before I came to Rahab’s Rope. No one ever treated me kindly. I came to Rahab’s Rope because I was told I could learn to sew and that would be helpful for me and my mom. I came to class and learned lots of things and everyone was kind to me. Now I have many friends. My dad committed suicide three years ago and me and my mom were struggling to pay rent and buy food. Now, with the money I make I can help my mom, and we are not struggling.”

Sara, “Before coming to Rahab’s Rope I could never go and buy anything for myself because my parents did not make enough money to buy things I needed or wanted. Now that I work for Rahab’s Rope I can buy my clothes and other things for myself.”

Coni (from the US) wrote, “India stole my heart! Going to India with Rahab’s Rope for the second time has been a huge blessing. Serving along side what this organization has established and the relationships that have been built with partners, women and children is incredible. God is using this organization so mightily to reach people and to be apart of it was a privilege and honor. To serve God, his people, and sisters in Christ has changed me forever. God grew me, stretched me and opened my eyes to things with in myself that needed to change. I am beyond blessed God decided to use me in this way and I can’t wait to see how God continues to use this organization for His glory and how I can be a part of what God is doing.

Elizabeth wrote, “While serving with Rahab’s Rope I was extremely impressed by the leadership and transparency of the staff. I could not have asked for better leaders. I felt completely loved and supported from day one. It was also incredible to see up close the way in which the ministry worked. It was a relief to see that all the focus of Rahab’s Rope was on blessing and impacting the women and children in the communities in which they work. The staff are constantly seeking the Lord to guide the direction of Rahab’s Rope. I would not hesitate to serve alongside them again.”

I hope that something from one of these quotes has touched and blessed you in some way. If you think you would be interested in serving with us please contact Tracy at tpayton@rahabsrope.com
